Medical advisor, Hello NancyDr Angela Wright
Brings medicine, sex therapy and trauma-informed care into one conversation, so the body, hormones and relationships get looked at together.
“Most of our pleasure doesn't happen on the inside. Actually, it happens on the outside of our bodies.”From her Hello Nancy video on painful sex, 2026
What Dr Angela tells her patients
Three things she says every week, in her words.
Start with what feels good
“I often tell women to change their focus when they're dealing with this problem and actually to think about what touch their body enjoys, and to try and focus on what can still bring them pleasure instead.”
Don't push through
“I often say it's a little bit like trying to put a contact lens in your eye. You're going to blink. Your body has got a response to make sure that you feel safe, and it doesn't help us to push through that response.”
There's no one right massager
“Toys are a really personal thing. Different people enjoy different sensation. But many of my patients have never tried air pulse technology.”

Questions she gets asked
Answers in her own words.
Why focus on pleasure when sex hurts?
“Being in pleasure can be really helpful. It helps the nervous system to settle, brings more blood flow to the tissues, and it helps our pelvic muscles to relax a little bit.”
Dr Angela, from her Hello Nancy video, 2026What does air pulse actually do?
“It's gentle waves of suction. It sucks and then it releases. And this brings a small wave of blood into the tissues underneath, which can help them to become more engorged and more aroused.”
Dr Angela, from her Hello Nancy video, 2026Where do dilators and trainers fit in?
“From a place of arousal and pleasure, we often find that using techniques like massage or pelvic floor trainers is a little bit more successful.”
